3-day ‘Amit Yuva Kalotsav’ festival from 17th to 19th July, 2023

On 17th July, 2023, Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, Hon'ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh inaugurated the 3-day ‘Amit Yuva Kalotsav’ festival from 17th to 19th July, 2023 is being organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi in association with Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh.
The inaugural event started with the national anthem and lightning of lamp by Hon'ble Administrator UT and other dignitaries.
Dr Sandhya Purecha, Chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi, in her speech, welcomed the Chief Guest and dignitaries and briefed about the rich heritage of Sangeet Natak Akademi.
Sh. Purohit, in his speech, congratulated the Sangeet Natak Akademi for successfully organising this event throughout the nation. He highlighted the importance of performing art in India since time immemorial. He said, “Such events have a great impact on children also and they stay connected with the Indian roots. The richer is the art, the richer is the culture, the richer is the personality, the richer is the society”.
The event ended with Vote of Thanks by Sh Sorabh Arora, Director Culture, UT Chandigarh and cultural performances including Gurbani Kirtan, Kathak, Bhangra and a play.
Amrit Yuva Kalotsav is a festival of music, dance, drama, folk and tribal performing arts, puppetry, mime, etc. Apart from the performances presented in the evenings, workshop on art critique will be organised in day time. The Art Critique workshop is for the artists and more specifically for the writers who write reviews in the local papers, magazines, blogs, etc. involving around 30 artists from Chandigarh and nearby areas.
The following Workshops are scheduled:-
Art Critique from 11 am to 1 pm on 17th July, 2023.
Rangsangeet Workshop from 17 to 19 July 2023 from 10 am to 5 pm. Venue - Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Playwriting Workshop from 17 to 19 July 2023 from 10 am to 5 pm. Venue – Tagore Theatre (mini auditorium), Chandigarh.
Till now, Amrit Yuva Kalotsav has been organized in Chennai, Imphal, Bhopal, Jammu, Lucknow, Mumbai, Udupi, Delhi (in Rabindra Bhavan and in Hyderabad House, and Central Vista) Varanasi, Kalady, Shillong, Agartala, Raipur, Puducherry, and Bokaro.
