3 lakh students participate in competitions dedicated to 400th Parkash Purb of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji


Chandigarh, (Gurpreet) Punjab School Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Sunday, said that to celebrate the 400th Parkash Purb of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, the state government has been organizing several programs and the education department has also been taking part actively in these programs. The cabinet minister said that the education department has continuously been organizing turban tying, Shabad Gayan, Poem Reciting, Speech competition, PPT making, songs singing, poster making, painting, slogan writing, instrument playing and calligraphy competitions in the government schools across the state. He added that as many as 3 lakh students of government schools have participated in these competitions with religious zeal and fervor.

The cabinet minister informed that in the first half of February, the school education department oragnised speech competitions in government schools regarding the sacrifice, writings and preaching of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. He added that during lockdown, the department had also organized 11 online competitions for government school students to make them aware of the teachings of the ninth Guru. He said that these competitions were being held from school level to state level with an aim to nurture the personality skills of the students apart from improving their religious knowledge.

Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the government school heads, teachers and parents of the students have worked hard to motivate the students to participate and excel in these competitions. He added that it was a matter of pride for them that the education department has always played a vital role in the success of the programs and schemes launched by their government.
