85% of road gullies cleaned; remaining road gullies shall be cleaned within 10 days



MCC Constitutes flood control team during raining season

Chandigarh, (Aditi) :- Keeping in view of the coming monsoon season, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh stated that MCC has already cleaned 85% of all the road gullies in the city and shall clean the remaining within 10 days. Also, 18 teams to control flood/water logging throughout city have been constituted.

The Commissioner took a progress report from the Superintending Engineer, Public Health wing in which he stated that the target date to complete the annual cleaning work of road gullies in various sectors/rehabilitation colonies/villages is of 7th July, 2022. As per progress report, presently 30,000 road gullies out of total 35,000 road gullies (85%) stands cleaned mainly on the V-3, V-4, V-5 & V-6 roads till date. In order to meet the target date and owing to Monsoon, more labour has been deployed to complete the work by 7th July 2022.

The Commissioner constituted total 18 teams comprising of one SDE and JEs to remain active in field during rainy season. Two Control Centre at Water Filling Station Sector 15, Chandigarh with telephone number: 0172-2540200 and 2nd in Manimajra (Water Works-II, MHC) with telephone no. 0172-2738082 have also been made operational round the clock in three shifts along with telephone attendants where residents can lodge the complaints of water logging during rain.
