AKSHAY URJA DIWAS CELEBRATIONS IN PGGCG-11,CHD


Chandigarh: Departments and societies of Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sctor-11, Chandigarh organised a series of events to mark various occasions today. Community Hygiene and Public Health society and Zoology department organised an awareness generation lecture on Breast Cancer. The theme of the interactive talk was ‘Early Detection, Save Life’. Dr. Kanika Sharma, Medical Oncologist, Max Hospital, Mohali sensitized the students on various symptoms and stages of Breast Cancer and guided how the early detection can lead to proper cure and healthy life. Students interacted with the expert and their queries were answered satisfactorily.

‘Prakriti-The Environment Society’ commemorated Akshay Urja Diwas by organizing various competitions like Slogan writing, Poster making and Folder making on the theme – ‘Impact of Akshay Urja on India. The Chief Guest was Mr. Arulranjan P, IFS, Chief Executive officer, CREST (Chandigarh Renewal Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society). In his address he stressed on innovations and multidisciplinary approach. He motivated students to create new ideas and streamline them in organised manner to have new outputs for the betterment of society. He also told students the importance of adopting renewable energy sources.

‘Kala Srijan-The Best out of Waste Society’, organised an exhibition of art works of cards and bookmarks on the topic Phulkari. Students displayed their creative and artistic potential and presented a kaleidoscope of eye pleasing display.

Principal, Prof. Anita Kaushal, appreciated the efforts of the Societies and motivated the students to strengthen their imaginative skills and keep on participating in various events for awareness generation and holistic development.
