ASSOCHAM appreciates Himachal Government relaxation on Inter-State travel

Chandigarh, (Aditi) - Travel, tourism, and hospitality have an immense multiplier effect on the economy. The coronavirus pandemic has impacted every sector, but perhaps, the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors have been most affected. This pandemic is the biggest challenge that any country has ever faced, given the immediate and immense shock to the tourism sector.

Himachal State Government relaxed the restrictions as part of re-opening under Unlock 4.0. One of the most frequented hill states, Himachal Pradesh has ended the e-pass and registration requirement process and allowed free inter-state travel after five long months. Keeping in view, steep hike in Coronavirus cases and deaths in the country, the Government has decided not to resume inter-state public transport buses until further notice.

“We extend gratitude for another major step taken by the Himachal State Government in reviving the economy. Bringing back tourists is a priority for now, as a major part of the state’s economy depends on tourism. We remain committed in the state’s resolute response to the challenge and would keep sharing our inputs and suggestions for navigating the economy through difficult times,” said Chairman ASSOCHAM Himachal State Council, Mr. Jitender Sodhi

ASSOCHAM Secretary General, Mr. Deepak Sood appreciates the calibrated approach formulated by Himachal State Government for re-opening of the tourism sector. He also said, we were waiting for Himachal State tourism to restart its operations from long as tourism is the backbone of the economy and will play a major role in strengthening the economy.
