Bhagwant Mann achieved unique distinction of being the worst CM of Punjab – Sukhbir S Badal

Ferozpur: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Bhagwant Mann had achieved the unique distinction of being the worst chief minister of Punjab who had not only bankrupted the State but had also looted its resources on the orders of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener Arvind Kejriwal.

The SAD president, who received a tumultuous response in both Faridkot and Ferozepur assembly constituencies as part of the Punjab Bachao Yatra, said “the chief minister has looted Punjab’s treasuries to fill the coffers of AAP and spread the reach of AAP in other States. Arvind Kejriwal is forcing him to do this to retain his chair and he is behaving like a puppet and is unmindful of the welfare of Punjab and Punjabis”.

Challenging chief minister Bhagwant Mann to disclose one development work which had been conducted during the two year tenure of the AAP government, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “forget creating any infrastructure, even basic civil facilities are being denied to the people”. He said all social welfare benefits had been curtailed, put on hold or scrapped. “People come to me everyday complaining how they are getting huge power bills and how their names have been struck off from social welfare benefits like aata-daal and old age pension”.

Urging Punjabis to unite to rid the State of the “looters from Delhi”, Mr Badal said “this government has borrowed one lakh crore in the last two years but has nothing to show for it”. He said even now the government was relying on advertisements and cheap public tamashas instead of doing anything for Punjabis. “This is the reason why investment worth Rs 20,000 crore has migrated from Punjab to other States even as no one is ready to invest in Punjab from outside due to the breakdown of law and order and gangster raj”.

The SAD president drew an unprecedented response in Faridkot where he travelled along with Parambans Singh Romana in an open jeep and addressed gatherings at various places. He stopped along the route at a Sewa Kendra in village Pipli which has been closed and pointed out how all services which were being provided to the people at the click of a button were being denied to them now. In Ferozepur Rural, in which he was accompanied by Joginder Singh Jindu, also people came out in thousands to meet and greet the SAD president. Teachers and staff of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University also met the SAD president and detailed how they were not getting salaries since the last six months. “Describing the conduct of the AAP government as abominable”, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “if this is how this government treats teachers what can we expect from it”.

Youth vied with each other to catch the attention of the SAD president. Many youths presented Mr Badal with his portraits as well as those of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. Those who accompanied the SAD president today included Satish Grover, Sunny Brar, Ravinder Singh Babbal, Gurkanwal Singh and Babreek Singh in Faridkot and Chamkaur Singh Tibbi, Surinder Singh Babbu and Chitbeer Singh Zira in Ferozepur Rural.
