Kaithal, (Global News) To mark World Cancer Day , IVY Hospital Mohali in association with Lions Club Kaithal Central is organizing a cancer check-up and awareness camp at Sanatan Dharam Mandir, Kaithal tomorrow.
Dr. Vijay Bansal, department head of cancer surgery at IVY Hospital, Mohali will consult the patients during camp. The other doctors team includes; Dr. Jatin Sarin HOD medical oncology, Dr. Minakshi Mittal radiation oncologist, Dr. Sunaina Bansal gynae-cancer specialist, Dr. Hemkant Verma cancer surgeon and Dr. Sunigdha radiation oncology consultant.
Dr. Vijay Bansal informed that the camp aims to create cancer awareness and remove the stigma & fear attached. It will help people recognize the early signs & symptoms of cancer, thus enabling them to seek treatment at an early stage.
It will also educate people about the key risk factors, since more than 30% of cancer cases could be prevented by modifying lifestyle or avoiding the risk factors, said Dr. Vijay
During camp we will also inform people about the importance of regular screening and check-ups besides informing women about mammograms, clinical breast exam, breast self-exam, pap smear tests to check for signs of cervical cancer, he maintained.
