SAD President leads delegation, says Veerpal committed blasphemy against Sikh Guru Sahiban

Chandigarh, (Gurpreet)- The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today submitted a complaint to the Chandigarh Police demanding a case be registered against Dera Sirsa supporter Veerpal Kaur for hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community by committing blasphemy against the Guru Sahiban.

SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal led the party delegation including S Balwinder Singh Bhundur, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra and Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and demanded that Veerpal Kaur be booked under sections 153, 153 (a), 153 (b) 295 (a) and 298 (b) IPC to ensure justice was delivered to all Sikhs, Punjabi community and Guru Naam Levas all over the world.

The complaint said on July 14 Veerpal made derogatory and malicious allegations aimed at tarnishing Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal’s personal, political, public and social reputation. The complaint said a legal notice was sent to Veerpal Kaur following which she admitted that she had never met the SAD President and that she regretted making false allegations against him. It said since this proved beyond a doubt that Veerpal had lied earlier, a thorough investigation needed to be done to find out who were the sponsors who were in criminal connivance with the accused to destabilise peace and harmony in Punjab.

It said comparing Guru Nanak Dev ji with a convicted rapist was the gravest form of insult and had hurt the sentiments of the entire Sikh community. It said besides this Veerpal had also depicted the Dera head and Guru Gobind Singh ji as equal which was blasphemous. It said the complaint had been filed in as per jurisdiction because the SAD head office fell in the union territory.
