CM CHANNI-GOVERNOR GREETS PEOPLE ON 552nd PRAKASH UTSAV OF SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI


CHANDIGARH, (Gurpreet) Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shri Banwarilal Purohit on Thursday extended his heartiest greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of 552nd Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

In his message on the eve of Gurpurab, CM Channi said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji was a great spiritual ambassador who guided the humanity to attain salvation by spreading the cult of devotion to God. Guru Ji’s eternal teachings of ‘Kirat Karo, Naam Japo and Vand Chako’ are still relevant in the present materialistic society.

CM Channi said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji envisioned a casteless society free from rituals, thereby redeeming the suffering humanity from the pangs of agony.

The Chief Minister said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji motivated mankind with new ideas, aims, and aspirations and called upon it to dispense with the maladies of hypocrisy, falsehood, pretensions and caste-prejudices.

The Chief Minister appealed the people to imbibe the spirit of service and humility as preached by the Great Guru and strive hard for carving out a peaceful, prosperous and healthy society by following the precious legacy of Guru Nanak Dev ji and celebrate this sacred occasion with utmost devotion and dedication rising above the parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion. Extending greetings to the people of Punjab and Chandigarh on the auspicious Gurpurb of the first Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shri Banwarilal Purohit said that Guru Nanak was not only the first Guru of the Sikhs but also a 'Guru' to the entire world. He envisioned the welfare of all humanity and considered all castes to be equal. Guru Nanak stressed on the women empowerment and respect to them.

The most famous teachings attributed to Guru Nanak Dev Ji are that there is only one God and that all human beings can have direct access to God with no need of rituals or priests. His most radical social teachings denounced the caste system and taught that everyone is equal, regardless of caste or gender. His philosophy seeking Sarbat Da Bhalla (welfare of all) and his message is relevant to the whole world, transcending all boundaries.

The Governor also said that the Punjab and Punjabis will always remember the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for having fulfilled their long cherished demand for Khule Darshan Deedar of Sri Kartarpur Sahib with the re-opening of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.

The Governor called upon the people to follow the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji as and continue to seek inspiration to walk on path of righteousness in the service of humanity.
