CM urged to constitute SIT in spurious Liquor case or face PIL

Chandigarh (Ramnjit Singh) Chief minister of Punjab has been urged upon to constitute SIT in spurious Liquor case in consultation with Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court or face PIL. Advocate Hari Chand has demanded High level inquiry into deaths of 86 persons due to consumption of spurious liquor.

In his demad notice he has said that the tragic deaths of 86 persons in and around Taran Tarn district due to consumption of spurious liquor, has left the entire Punjab aghast.  The Magisterial inquiry into this tragedy, as ordered by you, is too insignificant/inappropriate. The active involvement of Police officers and officers of Excise and Taxation department is obvious, as such a large scale net work of production and distribution of spurious /desi liquor could not have been operated without the official patronage, or patronage of powerful politicians. Magisterial inquiry into such episode can not inspire the confidence of the people of Punjab. Advocate has said that I would therefore, call upon you to request the Hon’ble Chief Justice to set up a SIT, for time bound inquiry, under the supervision/monitoring by the Hon’ble High Court.

 In case such action is not taken immediately, in that event, I shall be constrained to file a PIL in the Hon’ble High Court, for seeking redressal of my aforesaid grievance, in public interest.
