Court sentences Assistant District Treasury Officer,his accomplice for 7 years imprisonment

Chandigarh (Gurpreet) Aiming to eradicate corruption under the zero tolerance policy adopted by the state government under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing anti-corruption campaign has been able to get the accused behind the bar in a corruption case as a special court of Mansa awarded imprisonment to an Assistant District Treasury Officer Mansa Gurpreet Singh and his associate Atma Singh, resident of village Kotra, district Mansa for seven years each jail.
Disclosing this , a spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said the complainant Gurjit Kaur, resident of Mansa Kainchian, Mansa city, had complained to the bureau and told that after the demise of her husband Harinder Singh Patwari, the above said assistant district treasury officer colluded with Atma Singh, of village Kotra, in Mansa and demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 in lieu of passing the bill pertaining to his salary arrears of Rs. 7 lakh.
