Decision to induct tainted Raja & Kotli proves Channi and Sidhu protecting them-SAD
Warring involved in murder case, Kotli in rape and illegal sale of spurious liquor : Romana, Barkandi
Chandigarh, (Gurpreet) : The Shiromani Akali Dal today described the decision to induct Congress legislators Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Gurkirat Singh Kotli in the State Cabinet by chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and PCC President Navjot Sidhu as an action designed to extend protection to them despite the heinous crimes committed by them.
In a statement released here, SAD Youth Wing President Parmbans Singh Romana and MLA Kanwarjit Singh Rozy Barkandi said the decision to induct the tainted leaders in the state Cabinet had come as shock for peace loving and upright citizens of the state. They said that this decision has sent shock waves among Punjabis and would also be viewed with apprehension in Europe. They said Warring was accused of abetting suicide of contractor Karan Kataria who killed his two children before shooting himself in Faridkot whereas Kotli was accused of raping and molesting Katia Darnand, a French tourist who had visited Punjab in 1994.
They said that Brother in law of Warring had already been booked in abetment to suicide case whereas National Commission for Women had issued notice to state government regarding involvement of Kotli in Katia rape and molestation case.
Mr Romana and Mr Barkandi said it seemed the Congress government led by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was encouraging tainted MLAs like Warring and Kotli and was promoting them as Ministers despite the fact that they were involved in such sordid deeds. “It seems ethics and morality have no place in the Congress government”, they added.
They said that apart from the rape and molestation case, Kotli was also accused of sale of illegal liquor in Khanna and surrounding areas. They also reminded the Congress leadership that the next date of hearing of abetment to suicide case of Karan Kataria was October 8, 2021 which is just a few days after swearing in of the new ministers.
Romana and Rozy Barkandi also questioned Rahul Gandhi and asked him if he was hand in glove in extending protecting to Warring and Kotli. They said if Rahul really believed in morality and probity in public life he would immediately reconsider his decision to promote the two legislators as cabinet ministers.
