Delegation of PU Non Pensioner Employees meet Satya Pal Jain


Chandigarh (Aditi) . A delegation of Panjab University Non-pensioners employees (working and retd.) headed by Sh. Lajpat Rai met Sh. Satya Pal Jain, Hon’ble Member of Panjab University Senate and submitted him a memorandum demanding that those employees who could not opt for pension should be given one more chance to opt for the same.

They apprised him that they have been requesting the university authorities since long to grant one more chance to exercise option for pension. There case was also presented before the Syndicate. The Syndicate constituted a committee which also recommend to grant a chance to the non-pensioners. The legal opinion sought by the university also favours the employees.

The delegation informed Sh. Jain that due to COVID, the meeting of the Syndicate could not held and in the meantime the term of the Syndicate expired and the issue remained unresolved. The delegation also informed Sh. Jain that about 400 working and retired employees are interested to opt pension. Their share of deposit toward the pension Corpus would be about Rs. 87 Crores and currently about 150 employees would get pension, the expenditure on which would be about Rs. 8 crores per year. Thus there would not be any financial burden on the university.

Sh. Satya Pal Jain listened to the delegation with patience and assured the delegation that he would take up their issue with the PU authorities.

Among others Saravshri Prof Ved Prakash, Mr. Mahinder Pal, Mr. Parkash Sharma, Mrs. Kuldeep Kaur, Mr. Som Parkash & Mr. Kanshi Nath were also part of the delegation.
