Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh launched mpassport Police App & Digitalization of Police Services in Union Territory, Chandigarh at UT Secretariat, Sector-9, Chandigarh. Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade, IAS, Finance Secretary, UT Chandigarh, Sh. Parveer Ranjan, IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Raj Kumar Singh, IPS, IGP/UT, Sh. Vinay Partap Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur SSP/UT, Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP/Headquarters, Sh. Mridul, SP/City and Sh. Ashwani Kumar, Deputy Regional Passport Officer and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. The „mpassport Police App‟ was created by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in 2019 and has been linked to the Regional Passport Offices (RPOs) throughout the country. Today, Chandigarh Police adopted the „mPassport Police APP‟, a unified platform for all passport verifications in UT Chandigarh, which were earlier being done through paper mode, will now be done through online mode. 32 dedicated officials have been posted in all 16 police stations for this purpose. All officials have been allotted Tablets/Phones for this purpose. Physical verification will be done through the devices by clicking photo of the applicant, uploading necessary documents online on the spot. This will drastically reduce the Paper use as well as speed up the verification process. The main aim and objective of mPassport Police App is to provide passport related services to the Indian Citizens in a speedy, convenient and transparent manner. So, today “mPassport Police App” is launched to provide wide variety of services to Smartphone users and now onwards the whole process of the passport verification would be paperless, online and will provide speedy, convenient and transparent services to be the residents of city beautiful. Usually, the residents of Chandigarh apply for issuance of passport, at Regional Passport Office, Sector-34, Chandigarh and Passport Seva Kendra, Plot No. 50, Ind. Area Phase-II, Chandigarh. Then Regional Passport Officer sends their applications online to the concerned Police Station, wherein after downloading the application, the beat staff conduct physical verification. Further after checking records, the SHO concerned send the report to the Passport Branch through SDPO, which after scrutiny forwarded online to the RPO. This exercise is being done within stipulated period of 15 days, which is an outstanding performance of Chandigarh Police. Digitalization of other Police services Chandigarh Police has recently started many latest and modern technologies and new schemes to build a close bonding with the members of the public and to form stronger partnerships between Police and the communities they serve. Additionally, 4 other services viz. Character verification, Employee verification, Tenant verification and Servant verification, that were partly offline, have now been completely digitalized and now available online. The 15 Police services to the Citizens of Chandigarh have been digitized completely now. Besides this, Hon‟ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh also handover the insurance claim cheque of Rs. 90,00,000/- presented by HDFC bank to the family members of lady police official L/C Sharda who departed recently in a road accident. She was survived by two children and husband serving as Constable Parveen Kumar in Chandigarh Police. The Cheque was given as per recently signed MoU between Chandigarh Police and HDFC Bank.
