Three Pradhanmantri janaushadhi kendras opening soon


Chandigarh : With an objective of making quality generic medicines available at affordable prices at all, Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Priyojana (PMBJP) was launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India in November, 2008. Under the scheme, committed to make the vision of the Honourable prime minister a reality ,dedicated outlets known as Janaushadhi Kendras were opened to provide generic medicines at affordable prices. The Health Department U.T., Chandigarh is providing Healthcare facilities to the residents of Chandigarh and its adjoining areas. Around 4000 patients visits the OPD’s at GMSH-16, Chandigarh and its allied hospitals. Eight Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras are functioning in the city of Chandigarh to provide quality and cheap medicines to the residents of the city including the three major hospitals i.e., PGIMER, GMCH-32 & GMSH-16. The Health Department is in the process of opening additional three Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras at CH-22, CH-45 and CH-Mani-majra so as to decrease the out of pocket expenses of the patients visiting these health facilities. The tender for the same is under process and these Kendras would be made operational shortly.  The Department of Health is committed to provide quality healthcare and to reach the last mile beneficiary and leave no one behind.
