INDIRA GANDHI NARRATIVE AGAINST SIKHS BEING REVIVED BY AMARINDER :SUKHBIR

CM’S ATTEMOTS TO SOW SUSPICIONS AMONG HINDUS AND SIKHS DANGEROUS FOR PUNJAB”

“SIKHS NEED NO LESSONS IN PATRIOTISM FROM OPPRTNISTIC CONG LEADERS”

SAD READY FOR SUPREME SACRIFICE TO DEFEND PEACE, COMMUNAL HARMONY

Chandigarh (Gurpreet):  SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal today described  Captain Amarinder Singh reaction to the advice against  abuse of the UAPA and the indiscriminate repression against  innocent Sikh youth  as “an archival  reproduction of the old Indira Gandhi narrative and statements against the  community, describing every innocent Sikh youth as a potential terrorist and a threat to national security and integrity.”

“Every Sikh can recall how  Mrs Gandhi had  used exactly these words to justify the rolling of tanks into the holiest of the holy Sikh shrines, Shri Harmandar Sahib leading to the destruction of the sacred Shri Akal Takhat Sahib. Amarinder could at least have asked someone to change the language and the arguments to make his statement look original. But why would he when the Cogress mind-set that led to the15-year long tragedy of Punjab remains the same?”

“The SAD stands for peace and communal harmony. We will never allow anyone to disturb the excellent sentiment of fraternity among different communities in the state, especially among the Hindus and the Sikhs. “

Mr Badal asked Amaridner not to repeat the blunders of  “your more powerful Congress predecessors who carried out a genocide of the Sikhs in the name of defending the unity and integrity of the country.”

Mr Badal said that Amarinder was  obviously still besotted with atmosphere of long years he had spent with Mrs Gandhi and her son, Rajiv. “The ghosts of anti-Sikhism in the Congress blood are still alive and only waiting for an opportunity to strike again. And the Congress has always used Sikhs leaders to strike against the SIkhs,” said Mr Badal in a statement here.

Referring to Captain Singh’s references to national security and integrity, Mr Badal said ,“The brave and patriotic  Sikh masses need no lessons in nationalism or patriotism from the opportunistic Sikh Congress leaders. The Sikhs always have been and always will be the first to shed blood for this country.   The only contribution of the Congress leaders has been to paint every  single member of this brave and patriotic community as anti-national. Amaridner has started singing the same tune again, and this is extremely dangerous.”

Mr Badal said that he had initially thought that perhaps it was just some errant elements in the police who might be trying to revive the old  resort to repression. “But from Amarinder’s statement today, it is clear that they have his blessings and working under direct orders from him. This is a dangerous  development,” said Mr Badal.

The SAD president said that it was an amusing  spectacle to see the Dixie champion donning the patriotic  masks. “But I will let that pass as I do not wish to get personal. But he must speak and act responsibly. What is at stake is   peace and communal harmony in this sensitive border state.

Mr Badal  said that the present CM had realised that people were fed up with his mis-governance and he desperately needs to distract their attention with something scary and sensational.“ With his latest statement, he has turned every peace-loving Sikh youth into a suspect again and that can have dangerous implications for social cohesiveness in Punjab. The Hindus and the Sikhs are living like inseparable brethren .  But Amarinder wants to create   a crisis here again for his petty poitical interests.”

“ When was it last that you spoke about governance, development, employment or economy of the state?” asked the Akali leader.

Mr Badal said that  the rest of Amaridner’s statement was  nothing more than a routine police hand-out which does not even befit the stature of a man holding the office of the Chief Minister, and was therefore, not worthy of a comment.
