J.P. Atray Memorial Cricket Society decided to postpone the 26th Edition of the Tournament


Chandigarh (Dr. Abhinav Kalra) ; The J.P. Atray Memorial Cricket Society decided to postpone the 26th Edition of the Tournament which was to be held in September,2020 to September,2021 because of the ongoing Covid – 19 Pendemic and the resultant lock down.  The J.P. Atray tournament has always being the lung opener for the domestic season for the last 25 years and has seen the participation of around 100 International players starting from the Legendary Kapil Dev to the latest sensation Shubman Gill.  The players have always looked up to this tournament as an opportunity to get into shap for the gruelling domestic and International season.  From the present lot of International cricketers Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hardik Pandeya, Ravinder Jadeja, Rishabh Pant Jaspreet Bumrah and Shubhman Gill have successfully honed their skills in this tournament which had been played under the auspices of Punjab Cricket Association in the Tri-City according to Sushil Kapoor, Organising Secretary of All India J.P Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament. The tournament which has been played on the 50 overs format was won maximum number of times by Punjab Five times while ONGC qualified for the finals Nine times and Won four times. The cricket loving fans of the Tri-City will miss this annual 10 days of competitive cricket involving 16 top teams of the country said Vivek Atray the Convener of the Tournament. He was hopeful that next year the tournament will be organized with renewed vigour and better playing conditions with PCA’s New International Stadium likely to be operative by that time.
