Chandigarh (Aditi) . Sh. Satya Pal Jain, Ex MP, Additional Solicitor General of India and the Senior Most Member of the Panjab University Senate has requested the Central Government to make the condition of service, including the pay scales etc in respect of teaching faculty of Panjab University Chandigarh also, the same as specified in the UGC regulations and also to make the notification adopting Central Pay Scales for the employees of the UT Chandigarh applicable to the teaching faculty of Panjab University Chandigarh also.
In a letter written to Union Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah, Sh. Jain has requested the Government of India to extend the benefits of the notification, extending service conditions of Central Government employees to the employees of the UT Chandigarh, applicable to the employees of Panjab University also. Sh. Jain has also sent a memorandum signed by More than 500 members of the teaching faculty, including Prof. Manu Sharma and Prof. Parveen Goyal in this regard to Sh Amit Shah, along with his letter.
In his letter Sh. Jain has said that the teaching faculty of Panjab University is eagerly awaiting for the acceptance of their demand because after the implementation of Government of India’s notification dated 28th March, 2022, the age of retirement of the college teachers has been increased to 65 years, whereas the same benefit is not available to the teaching community of Panjab University and therefore they want this anomaly to be removed.
Mr. Jain in his this letter has said that teaching community of Panjab University has welcomed the issuance of notification issued by the Government of India and overwhelming number of teachers which are more than 500 have signed the memorandum addressed to the Union Home Minister, which was handed over to Sh. Jain a few days back.
Mr. Jain hoped that the Union Government will soon take an appropriate decision on this issue.
