Kirron Kher lays foundation stone of providing and fixing paver blocks in Sarangpur


Chandigarh: Keeping in view the overall development of villages, Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, Chandigarh today laid the foundation stone of providing and fixing paver blocks on internal streets and construction of phirni road at village Sarangpur in the presence of Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Kanwarjit Singh Rana, Senior Deputy Mayor, other councillors and other prominent persons of the area.

While addressing the gathering, the MP said that nearly 16 thousand people of the village will get benefit from this project as roads have been damaged in the past many years due to the work of up-gradation of public health services to provide water supply, sewerage and storm water lines in villages under the jurisdiction of MCC.

She said that the MCC has also got these villages included in the prestigious 24x7 water supply project of the city so that these villages also get uninterrupted water supply round the clock for which the work is expected to start this year.

The city Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta said that this road expected to be covered by paver blocks at around 11500 square meters of the total village area, which accounts for an approximate internal street length. She said that the phirni road will also be constructed with bitumen and has an ammroximate length of 1275 meters.

He said that the work of paver blocks on internal streets and construction of phirni roads will be completed within 6 months time period at a cost of Rs. 90 lacs. He further said that the village phirni road will also be completed within 6 months at a cost of Rs. 85 lacs.

The Mayor further said that the 13 villages were transferred to MCC in the year 2018 and Municipal Corporation has took up the work of laying sewer storm and water supply in these villages at the cost of Rs 50 crores and the works are near completion .The roads will be constructed and repaired at cost of Rs 17 cores in these villages, said the Mayor.
