Kumari Selja begins New Year by spending night among the agitating farmers at Singhu border

Chandigarh, (Aditi) – President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) Kumari Selja began the New Year by spending night among the farmers agitating at the Singhu border. She interacted with the farmers and also extended support in the langar service. Kumari Selja also wrote a letter to the farmers.

She said that in democracy, issues pertaining to public are paramount. She said that the government should leave its stubbornness and repeal these three black laws with immediate effect. Along with this, the government should enact a law for guaranteeing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and also ensure that 100 percent of the crop is sold at the MSP. The government's promises to the farmer leaders on the environment ordinance related to the straw and electricity bill should be fulfilled with immediate effect.

Kumari Selja said that she was very upset to see that lakhs of farmers and laborers have been agitating against the anti-agriculture black laws of the BJP government on the open roads in this horrific cold for the last one month and 46 farmers have sacrificed their lives. More than 10 farmers from Haryana have lost their lives in this movement. She demanded the government to provide compensation and jobs to the families of farmers who lost their lives in this movement.

Kumari Selja said that the whole country has stood firmly with the farmers in this movement. Under the leadership of Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and leader Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Party is constantly fighting against these black laws. She said that Mr. Rahul Gandhi also took out a tractor rally in Punjab and Haryana in support of farmers against these black laws. She herself raised voice on behalf of the HPCC against this conspiracy of the government in the month of July. After this, she and other members of the Congress party consistently extended their support by reaching among the farmers at different places.

Kumari Selja said that she also felt that she should understand the agony of farmers, stay overnight with the agitating farmers, share their grief and pain, and extend support. That is why she again arrived among the farmers and decided to spend whole night on New Year among them.

Kumari Selja wished all the farmers and their families Happy New Year and prayed to God to grant happiness, peace and prosperity to all. “May God give wisdom to the government and it adopts a positive attitude and takes immediate decision on the demands of the farmers”, she added.
