Manjinder Singh Sirsa exhorts Sikh community to unite for getting politically more importance in the country

Modi government gave importance to Sikh religion, history, culture and Punjabi language

Will definitely work for ensuring reservation for Sikhs of J&K in jobs and Assembly: Sirsa

Chandigarh, October 27: BJP National Secretary Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa has exhorted members of the Sikh community to unite for getting politically more importance in the country and said that even Sikh Guru Sahiban have given concept of Miri and Piri to Sikhs for becoming more powerful policitally.

Addressing an impressive gathering of Sikh intellectuals and business leaders at Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir during a book launch of ‘Kashmiri Sikh Community Memorandum’ by S. Sant Pal Singh Ex President DGPC Budgam, Mr. Sirsa said that it is very important for Sikh community get united to get more political importance in the country. He said that it is always assumed that Sikh community members are afraid of working with the government of the day for betterment of the community but this line of thinking should change with changing times.

Talking about various steps taken by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi led NDA government for the country, Mr. Sirsa said this government gave importance to all four aspect of Sikh religion including Religion, history, culture, Punjabi language.

He said that for first time in 70 years country has witnessed celebration of 400th Prakash purab (birth anniversary) of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji at Red Fort. He said that apart from it Modi government has observed Veer Bal Diwas at a grand scale in the country as well as abroad in Indian foreign missions telling world community about supreme sacrifice of Chhote Sahibzade (young sons) of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji. BJP National Secretary also said that Prime Minister Mr. Modi had invited Sikh leaders at his residence on many occasions and discussed with them issues being faced by the community and they were subsequently resorted. He also spoke about how guilt of 1984 Sikh genocide including Sajjan Kumar were sentenced to jail by reconstitution of SIT by Modi government which reprobed all those cases in which Congress governments of the day had given clean chit to the guilty.

Talking about Sikh community in Jammu &Kashmir, Mr. Sirsa said that book written by S. Sant Pal Singh ji describes the story of how the resilent Kashmiri Sikhs despite the challenges of terrorism have steadfastly upheld their connection to the nation and legacy of Kashmir.

Strongly supporting their demand for reservation of an Assembly seat for Sikh community and reservations in government jobs, Mr. Sirsa assured the gathering that he will take up these issues at the highest level with the Central government and will work hard to convert these proposals into reality.

Others prominent present on the occasion included Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Mr. Harmeet Singh Kalka, DSGMC member Gurpreet Singh Jassa, former President Sant Pal Singh, Baldev Singh, Master Kulwant Singh, Jaspal Singh, Nanak Singh, Parmjit Singh, Avtar Singh, Manmeet Singh (who also conducted stage), Damodar Singh, Inderjit Singh, Prabhleen Singh besides others.
