Municipal Corporation committed to welfare of its Safaimitras

Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has decided to revise the salaries of daily wage safaikaramcharies and other similarly placed employees of the Corporation as per the Central Pay Commission from 01.04.2022. Presently the safaikarmcharies and other daily wage employees were getting salaries as per the Fifth Pay Commission.
Sh. Anup Gupta, city Mayor in a simple but impressive function held here today at MOH Office, Sector 17, Chandigarh, handed over the sanction letter in this regard to the safaikarmacharis union in the presence of Sh. Saurabh Joshi, councilor, Sh. Gurinder Singh Sodhi, Joint Commissioner, Dr. Vinay Mohan, MOH and the office bearers of the safaikarmacharis union.
While sharing this development, the Mayor said that the General House of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in its last meeting held on 29.08.2023 has approved an agenda to give the benefits of the 6th Pay Commission and Central Pay Commission to the daily wage safaikaramcharis and other such employees. Accordingly, sanction has been issued today to revise the salaries of these employees from 01.01.2016 to 31.3.2022 as per the 6th Pay Commission and from 01.4.2022 as per the Central Pay Commission.
In response to other demands presented by the President of the Safaikaramcharis Union, the Mayor assured that their genuine demands would be considered and he would take up the matter at appropriate level for an early decision for fulfillment of these demands.
He further said that in order to take care of the health of our safaikaramcharis, medical camps would be organized at periodic intervals in civil dispensaries and even in the office of MOH and appealed the safaikaramcharis to take maximum benefit from these health camps.
