National Lok Adalat at all levels from Sub-Division level courts to Supreme Court on 12.03.22
Chandigarh (Aditi) National Legal Services Authority under the Leadership of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority, is organizing National Lok Adalat at all levels from Sub-Division level courts to Hon’ble Supreme Court on 12.03.2022 relating to following types of cases pending in any court-
(i) NI Act cases under Section 138;
(ii) Money Recovery cases;
(iii) Labour and Employment dispute cases;
(iv) Electricity, Water bills and other bill payment cases (excluding non - compoundable);
(v) Maintenance Cases;
(vi) Others (Criminal Compoundable and other Civil disputes)
Pending in the Courts/Tribunals:
(i) Criminal Compoundable Offences;
(ii) NI Act cases under Section 138;
(iii) Money Recovery cases;
(iv) MACT cases;
(v) Labour and Employment dispute cases;
(vi) Electricity, Water Bills and other bill payment cases (excluding non-compoundable);
(vii) Matrimonial disputes (except divorce);
(viii) Land Acquisition cases (Pending before civil courts/tribunals);
(ix) Services matters relating to pay & allowances and retiral benefits;
(x) Revenue cases (pending in District Courts and High Courts only);
(xi) Other civil cases (such as rent, easmentary rights, injunction suits, specific performance suits) etc.;
Under the able guidance of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ravi Shanker Jha, the Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Patron-in-Chief, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh, Hon’ble Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh is also organizing National Lok Adalat in the District Courts, Chandigarh, Industrial Tribunal & Labour Court, Chandigarh and Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services), Chandigarh.
Help Desks to guide and help the litigant public are being established at each floor of the District Courts Complex, Sector-43, Chandigarh by the State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh, which were manned by the staff of State and District Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh. In this regard, On 2nd March 2022, a virtual Consultation meeting with the Hon’ble Executive Chairperson with the SLSAs and Member Secretary, SLSAs was conducted by the Executive Chairman, NALSA, wherein he urged all to take effective measures for the maximum disposal of the cases.
Sh. Surender Kumar, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority also organized a radio programme on ‘All India Radio’ Chandigarh on 03.03.2022 which was broadcast on 05.03.2022, and appealed to the general public to get benefit from the National Lok Adalat by getting their disputes settled in the same. He also told that the main aim of organizing Lok Adalat is to reduce the expenses and time of the public and the expeditious disposal /redressal of the grievances/cases, so that there is satisfaction and contentment among the general public with regard to Indian Judicial system with the aim that both the parties get their dues as per their requirement(s). He also stated that the award of the Lok Adalat is equivalent to the civil court decree which is final for both the parties and there is no appeal against award so passed by the bench of the Lok Adalat.
A total of 1,717 cases will be taken up in the said National Lok Adalat at various forums and 22,900 pre-litigation cases would also be taken up. 15 Benches headed by the serving Judicial Officers would be constituted to dispose of the different types of cases in the District Courts, Chandigarh.
