Preparations and Arrangements at Polling Stations for Lok Sabha Elections in Chandigarh on June 1


 Chandigarh: Vinay Pratap Singh, District Election Officer cum Returning Officer, Chandigarh conducted a comprehensive visit to various model as well as theme based polling stations today, ensuring all arrangements are in place for a smooth voting process ahead of tomorrow's polling in Chandigarh. During the inspection, the authorities meticulously reviewed the facilities provided at each polling booth. This proactive approach underscores the administration's commitment to facilitating an inclusive and comfortable voting experience for all citizens. The polling day for Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency is June 1, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are a total 614 polling booths across Chandigarh. All the facilities to cope with the harsh weather, like water coolers, waiting rooms, rest rooms, shade, and the assistance of NSS volunteers, have been provided at all the polling stations in the city during the elections to ensure a comfortable voting experience. Special queue will be made for senior citizens and persons with disabilities to cast their votes without delay. Facilities for PwD voters, provision of ramps, availability of wheelchairs, priority entry to polling stations, braille enabled electronic voting machines and pick & drop facilities to PwD voters, shall be available. There are 55 Model Polling Booths including 5 theme based booths reflecting local Chandigarh theme, 5 women managed booths, 5 booths managed by Persons with disabilities and 5 youth centric booths to attract voters have been set up at various locations in Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency for elections on 1st June 2024. The polling booth at Gymnasium Hall CCA, PEC, Sector -12 is based on the theme of Architectural Heritage of Chandigarh, polling booth at Moti Ram Arya Senior Secondary School, Sector-27A is based on the theme of Rock Garden, polling booth at Govt. Model High School, Sector-31C is based on the theme of Indian Air Force Heritage Museum, Chandigarh, polling booth at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36 is based on the theme of Garden And Roundabout of Chandigarh and polling booth at RIMT World School, Manimajra is based on theme of ‘Chandigarh- The Beautiful City’. Voters may dial the toll-free voter helpline number 1950 for all electoral services and information. For the facilitation of Chandigarh Voters, Chandigarh CVA App has also been launched which allows voters to check the queue lengths & estimated time in queue at their designated polling booths. The ECI’s ‘Voter Turn Out’ app is also available on play store. Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh further appealed to voters of Chandigarh to cast their vote and participate in the festival of democracy. The Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer of Chandigarh are committed to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections.
