Seminar on "Assistive Techno for Persons with visual Disabilities"- a part of World Disabled Day


Chandigarh (Aditi) History will be created Today on 28th November, 2020 when a seminar will be organized by the visually challenged, for the visually challenged and presided over by a visually challenged.

National Association for the blind (NAB) is organizing a seminar on "Assistive technologies for persons with visual disabilities" at Bal Bhawan Auditorium, Sector 23-B, Chandigarh on 28th November, 2020 at 12 PM. The Chief Guest of the seminar will be none other than Sh Rupesh Kumar IAS, Assistant Commissioner, UT Chandigarh, himself a visually challenged.

Sh Mahesh Inder Singh, a visually challenged person and a known expert on Assistive technologies is the key note speaker.Most of the audience consisting of 60 visually challenged students, teachers, employees of various banks and Govt departments will participate in the seminar.

A street play of 20 min designed on the theme of "Awareness about Disability" under the Awareness Generation Program of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will also be presented.

The objective of the seminar is to make visually challenged end users and educational institutions aware of various accessible technology options for reading and writing independence for persons with blindness or low vision. A revolution has happened in this field. However, the number of users taking benefit of this is very less due to lack of adequate information about available options. This seminar is to address this problem.
