Chandigarh, (Aditi) . Technical Education Department, Chandigarh has got the SKOCH Order-of-Merit Award (April 2021- March 2022) for implementing GIANI (Govt. ICT Training-A new Initiative) project.
The award is bestowed after exhaustive research and expert evaluations. This project was headed by Sh. S.S.Gill, the then Secretary Technical Education, Sh. Jagjit Singh, PCS, the then Director Technical Education and Dr. Sunita Mehta, ICT Coordinator. The award was received by Dr. Sunita Mehta along with ICT Team members on 12.04.2022 at the Virtual 81st SKOCH Summit 2022.
The Jury Members of SKOCH Group appreciated this project and have asked to get the same implemented in its neighbouring states because of its extra ordinary features like low cost, resource sharing, beneficial during COVID 19 etc.
The project was initiated on 10th Sept 2018 and will be completing in the year 2024. In this project, the quality based ICT Training is being provided to all the employees of the Chandigarh Administration. Till date, 10396 employees have been registered and 6713 have successfully completed ICT Training. The objective of this project is to keep technology up to date at the workplace, effective utilization of e-Governance Software, to maintain computational accuracy, improving employee productivity, efficient organization management etc. This is a low budget project in which the training cost is just Rs. 550 per employee approx. The Technical Education Department believes in changing the country with Technology.
