World Nature Conservation Day Celebrated at Desh Bhagat University
Chandigarh (Aditi) ECO Club of Desh Bhagat University celebrated World Nature Conservation Day through a specially designed online platform of the University. The day was celebrated to raise awareness about protecting nature and conserving natural resources. Students prepared Charts, Posters, Audio & Videos Clips exhibiting beauty, describing the important role of Nature and also made bird feeders from the scrap and shared online with University and to motivate the surrounding community to care for the Mother Nature.
More than 2500 students from different colleges i.e University School of Engineering, Applied Science, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Dental, Nursing, Education, Management, Hotel Management, and Para-Medical participated in the event.
Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, said that every citizen has a moral duty to protect the mother earth and conserve the natural resources because problems like illegal wildlife trade, deforestation and increased urbanization has led to issues like loss of forest cover, lack of wildlife habitat, and pollution in the environment.He emphasised that during lockdown due to COVID-19 , the environment became pollution free, to enjoy the same environment we must care for the mother nature.
Pro Chancellor Dr. Tejinder Kaur congratulated Staff, students and members of Eco Club for successful conduct of the event.
Dr. Shalini Gupta, Vice Chancellor, DBU emphasized on preventing environment harmful practices and depletion of natural resources, since a healthy environment is the pillar for a stable and growing society. She appreciated the efforts of Eco club and conveyed best wishes to stay fit with natural medication in this Covid Condition.
