Excise and Taxation Department is continuing its drive against illegal liquor to enforce MCC guidelines



Chandigarh:  Excise and Taxation Department is continuing its drive against illegal liquor to enforce MCC guidelines in view of the General Election to Lok Sabha 2024 and to ensure integrity of supply chain of liquor. For this 6 dedicated teams have been formed to keep vigil and check liquor outlets. During the checking of 2 licensing units liquor of 2400 bottles of approx. Rs 8 lakhs value was found without valid Permit, Pass and Holograms which has been seized by the Department. On the directions of Excise-Taxation Commissioner Sh Vinay Pratap Singh, a meeting with Bottling Plant owners and wholesaler was conducted under the Chairmanship of Collector Excise cum Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner where Department's cooperation and facilitation for smooth running of businesses was committed and directions were issued to the wholesalers that Department will be constantly monitor their activities and will carry out regular inspections. Should any case of smuggling or evasion of excise duties or any deviation from the Excise Policy 2024-25, Excise Act 1914 and MCC guidelines be detected Department shall act swiftly taking stringent action against the perpetrators.
