GGDSD College, Kheri Gurna organized a National Webinar


Chandigarh (Gurpreet) The Department of History of GGDSD College, Kheri Gurna organized a National Webinar on the “Relevance of Ramayana in contemporary Indian Society and Education” on 19 th June, 2020. The webinar was arranged gauging the fact that our ancient scriptures hold a universal and perennial significance and are a reservoir of unending wisdom.

The eminent resource persons for the webinar were Dr. Gopal Krishan Thakur, Head,

Department of Education, Central University of Maharashtra; Dr. Saroj Sharma, Prof., Guru

Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi and Maj General (Retd.)A.K. Shori,

Chairman, GGDSD College, Kheri Gurna. The Chief Guest of the day was Sh. Upkar Krishan

Sharma, Hon’ble President, GGDSD College Society, Chandigarh.

The webinar began with a formal introduction of Hon’ble Chief Guest by Dr. Sunil K. Baria,

Principal GGDSD College, Kheri Gurna. Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, Coordinator & Assistant

Professor, Department of History read a brief profile of the worthy panelists. The first speaker

was Dr. Gopal Krishan Thakur who talked on the topic “Contemporary Indian Society and

Ramayana”. He was followed by Dr. Saroj Sharma who delivered a talk on “Learning 4Cs

through Ramayana and its Educational Implications”. The next resource person was Maj

Gen.(Retd.) A.K. Shori who discussed “The impact of Ramayana on the Indian Constitution”.

The live session of webinar was attended by 535 participants on YouTube, comprising of

learned members of the teaching fraternity, scholars and students from all parts of the country and got an overwhelming response from them. This has been viewed online by 1337 viewers. The insightful webinar was followed by a question answer round wherein the inquisitive participants engaged in an informative interaction with the panelists. Dr. Jaswinder Kaur presented a formal vote of thanks to conclude the webinar. Technical support was given by Mr. Ajit Vishwakarma, Managing Director, VINAYAVISH. The webinar was well organized by Dr.Jaswinder Kaur, her team members Dr. Shivani Khoshik, Dr Preeti Arora, Dr Jyoti Singla,Mrs.Geeta Khocher and supported by all the faculty and staff members.
