Education Department, UT Chandigarh Administration presented a cultural Bonanza on the eve of 75th Republic Day


The Education Department, UT Chandigarh Administration presented a cultural Bonanza on the eve of 75th Republic Day with great patriotic zeal and fervour on the eve of Republic Day. 

Sh. Nitin Yadav,  Adviser to Administrator-cum- Home Secretary graced the event as the chief guest. Ms. Hargunjit Kaur, Education Secretary, Sh. Harsuhinderpal Singh Brar, Director School Education and other officials from the Education Department were also present during the event. 

The theme of the function was 'Sustainable growth'. On one hand, the students showcased the cultural richness of the country while on the other hand they showcased the milestones that our country has achieved so far. The event echoed with patriotic fervour. The students from private and government schools presented a spectacular show which was highly appreciated by the chief guest in his address. 

The Adviser commended the education department's efforts in uplifting the level of education in the city and also put light on the significance of this day. He also highlighted the critical role that the education department has to play in taking the country further to the next level . The highlight of the cultural bonanza was the play presented by Government High School, Kajheri which was based on 'Inclusivity' by getting special students on board for the act. 

This year, the Education department, UT Chandigarh gave Certificate of Appreciation to its two employees and three students for their extraordinary work. These include:- Mr. Balwinder Singh (AEO) at the District Education Office for his extraordinary efforts to uplift sports in the schools resulting in an increase in medals at SGFI games; Mr. Roop Chand Sharma, Head cook at GMSSS 10 who showed great act of bravery by saving more than 20 Mid Day Meal workers when a cooker had burst in the MDM kitchen. Among the students, Saikrit Gulati, a student of St. Johns School, Sector 26,Chandigarh who works as a voluntary teacher with the GMSSS-Dhanas, Ms. Pranshi, International Fencer for bringing laurels to the city and to the department and Mr. Harsh Singla,an International Shooter for representing the country at International Level.
