Puppet Festival, 2024


Chandigarh holds significant cultural importance in North India.  The Department of Cultural Affairs is steadfast in its mission to promote art, culture, and literature, all while safeguarding and preserving our invaluable cultural heritage. 

​​Department of Cultural Affairs, in association with Tagore Theatre Society is organising 11th edition of International Puppet Festival from 17th February to 21stFebruary 2024 at Tagore Theatre. Hon’ble Administrator, UT, Chandigarh will inaugurate the Festival on 17th February 2024 at 10:45 am. The Puppet Festival is an important event of the annual calendar of culture department.

​​During the 5-day festival the artists from Russia, France, Brazil, USA, and Sri Lanka will bring their captivating puppetry performances. The main aim of this Festival is to showcase puppetry as a traditional art form and preserve it by engaging children's curiosity. Puppet festival sounds a great opportunity for school students. The Department will conduct daily two shows in a day, morning show, starting from 10:30 am for school children and in the evening, starting from 6:30 pm for general public.

​​A Puppet Exhibition will also be organised from 17th to 21st February at Tagore Theatre for the school children and general public.  During the exhibition live demonstration of puppet making will also be showcased.
