YAD to gherao Delhi Police personnel singling out Punjabi youth for arrests

Chandigarh, (Gurpreet) – The Youth Akali Dal (SAD) will ‘gherao’ Delhi Police personnel singling out Punjabi youth for arrests by registering false cases against them in connection with the January 26 incidents in the national capital.

Disclosing this here after a meeting of the YAD, its President Parambans Singh Romana said the wing had received reports of Punjabi youth being unfairly targeted for punishment by the Delhi Police and the central government. “We have decided to stand by our youth. Our rank and file will rush to support any youth who is unfairly targeted by the Delhi Police. I request all affected families to seek the support of the YAD in this connection. We will not allow any discrimination against our youth at any cost”.

Mr Parambans Romana also expressed shock at the manner in which the Congress government had abrogated its duty towards its citizens and allowed a free for all to the central government to arrest its youth in Punjab. “It is now clear that chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh is playing a fixed match in league with the central government. That is why he has not directed the Punjab Police to ensure Punjabi youth are not subject to discrimination in any manner whatsoever. The Delhi Police cannot make any arrests in Punjab without taking the Punjab Police into confidence. If the Delhi Police is acting on its own then its officials should be booked for indulging in illegal practices”.

The YAD leader also announced that the youth wing would hold massive rallies in all constituencies in the State starting from March 15. He said the wing would organize a rally on March 23 at Hussainiwala to mark the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Mr Romana said the YAD would mobilize the youth across the State to force the Congress government to implement all promises made to them be it ‘ghar ghar naukari’ or Rs 2,000 per month unemployment allowance. “We will also take on the chief minister for taking false oaths on the holy Gutka Sahib and refusing to implement the complete loan waiver promise which has resulted in 1,500 suicides in the State”.

Earlier during the YAD meeting, duties were allocated to the office bearers to make the Shiromani Akali Dal’s March 1 protest march to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha a resounding success. YAD workers said there was tremendous enthusiasm amongst youth to take the government to task for failing each and every section of society. “The YAD will raise the various scams which had served to rob the State exchequer during the forthcoming budget session be it the Rs 6,500 crore liquor scam, illegal sand mining and illegal distilleries scams, seed scam or the power scam”, he added.
